The Rundown: The girl and her companion find themselves facing increased danger on their journey.
As the dark forces hunting them take to the skies to track them down, the girl and her companion find themselves somewhere new. Unfortunately, her companion wants to keep her safe and that means away from other people. A desire that is immediately challenged when they find themselves in the middle of an attack by powerful forces against the population. After a harrowing escape, they discover they are being chased.
The pair find themselves on the coast and the while the girl is bewildered by all the new things she sees, her companion knows that their pursuers will stop at nothing to find them. A sentiment echoed by the man overseeing the chase. A man who has his own plans for the girl and has laid a trap for them both. A trap that will lead to death.
The Story: I continue to fall in love with the world of this story, the plot of this series and how brilliantly Spurrier is able to evoke all of its elements with no dialogue. The story itself is so compelling that it draws in the reader and conveys drama, tension, emotion and danger with every interaction. There is a brilliance to the way the story unfolds for the reader and you find yourself understanding everything Spurrier is saying.
The Art: Bergara delivers visual thrills with every page and panel. The art and story go hand in hand perfectly as each cannot be sustained without the other and Bergara’s art perfectly captures the tone of the story and what it is trying to convey.
