The Rundown: Virgil and his friends work to free the bang babies captured by the government while something worse might have gotten loose.
Virgil is down, but not out as Hotstreak stands over him waiting for him to die. Weakened, but still alive, Virgil decides to take something to enhance his strength. Something that will hopefully give his friends inside the time to free the prisoners the government is keeping locked up inside. When an explosion inside one of the labs distracts the guards, Virgil’s friends move in and split up. At the same time, Static fights for his life against an enraged Francis.
After taking the fight indoors, Static gets the upper hand while his friends look for a way to free the other kids. At the same time, Jones realizes that there is something more dangerous than Static moving through the facility and decides to put his new tools to the test. When Virgil realizes that the information that got them caught is still on site, his friends look for a way to stop it while Static finds himself facing a group of bang babies that have no interest in leaving or letting him go either.
The Story: Ayala brings a great energy to this issue that makes the story compelling, thrilling and fun to read. The action is great. I like that there is a feeling of real stakes involved for these characters and I really enjoy the tone of the story. There is a lot happening in the series and Ayala does a great job of keeping the story riveting and I was impressed and delighted with the twist at the end of the issue.
The Art: Draper-Ivey delivers some fantastic art throughout the issue. The art style is perfect for the fast paced, action-packed elements of the story and the visual style is engaging as well.
