The Rundown: The government comes looking for Virgil and he decides it’s time to help the other kid like him.
The authorities comes to the Hawkins household looking for Virgil. As he wonders what will happen next, his parents are defiant in their protection of their son and send the agents and their new powered attack dog packing. Virgil explains to his parents what is happening with the other bang babies and is determined to do something to help even with their objections. After testing out the new tech he got from Curtis Metcalf, Virgil gives Darius a call and prepares to hit the streets.
Virgil and his friends meet up outside a facility that is supposed to be holding other kids taken off the street. After getting a plan together, they move in to try to free them. After knocking out the power, Virgil takes on the soldiers coming out to capture him. Unfortunately, they meet more resistance when Francis emerges with revenge on his mind.
The Story: Ayala crafts an entertaining story with some great and relevant social commentary mixed in. The plot is exciting and fun in equal measure with awesome dialogue that gives depth to both the situation Virgil finds himself in, but the implications of what his actions will mean to his life going forward. The action is great and the characters pop off the page.
The Art: Chriscross and Draper-Ivey deliver some impressive visuals throughout the issue. The art is beautifully done and filled with energy and style.
