The live action version of the Teen Titans is getting its core cast together in preparation to begin production for the new DC Comics streaming service.
After casting Australian newcomer Teagan Croft as Raven on the series, there is news that another member of the team has been cast. According to Deadline and TVLine, the Greg Berlanti produced series has cast Anna Diop in the role of Starfire on the series.
Anna Diop is known for her roles on drama series like The Messengers, Greenleaf and 24: Legacy. Greg Berlanti (Arrow), Akiva Goldsman (Star Trek: Discovery), Geoff Johns and Sarah Schechter. The series will focus on former Robin, Dick Grayson emerging from the shadows of his previous life to lead a new group of superheroes.
Diop’s Starfire is listed as Princess Koriand’r, an alien from a warrior planet who seeks asylum on Earth. A no-nonsense, take-no-prisoners stranger on our world, she has the ability to shoot energy bolts and fly. Searching for her place on Earth, she’ll come into contact with the Titans.
The series is slated to premiere on DC Comics streaming service in 2018.
