The Rundown: Boba Fett becomes a target as he races to recover his stolen property.
After a brief story intro, it is revealed that a mystery organization has acquired the carbonite frozen Han Solo. Meanwhile, Boba Fett searches for a lead on his missing bounty. He is then involved in two deadly confrontations. The lasts results in a gain of valuable information. Next, Boba heads to Tatooine. Once he arrives, he discovers something unexpected. Elsewhere, Jabba and the Hutt clan discuss a new power player in the galaxy. And that new entity has a surprising background.
The Story: This tale is set between the Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. As such, it incorporates a variety of well known characters relevant to the original trilogy, and the general universe. Soule’s first entry into this series is neatly executed and interesting. I like the way the narrative is inclusive without retconning the original properties. And I am also curious as to whether these events will effect an upcoming Disney+ series. Overall, I found this episode to be enjoyable, and I look forward to the next edition.
The Art: Luke Ross creates highly detailed drawings that are complimented by water color inspired pastels in this visually stunning issue. This combination perfectly captures the tone of the story. Every panel is filled with a wealth of distinct patterns and images that drew my eye. Throughout each page, I felt completely immersed in the world of the characters.
