Official Description – The Batch get stuck on a desolate moon.

The show opens with The Batch traveling in space. As their space craft suffered heavy damage from the previous battle with Imperial forces, they are forced to land on a remote moon. While doing repairs, they have an encounter with local wildlife. In order to make their vessel operational, Hunter and Omega must retrieve a vital component from the nest of a dangerous creature.

Elsewhere, Governor Tarkin & Rampart discuss plans for the next generation of Imperial Troopers as the wary Kaminoans devise ways to stay relevant. I’m really glad the Kaminoans are featured so heavily. There is limited information on them available after the Clone Wars ended. I’m sure other fans have questions regarding their story.

Later, a new elite squad is created consisting of non-cloned humans, with Crosshair as their leader. As a test, they are sent to confront a group of resistance fighters. Tensions rise between Crosshair and the group after a disagreement. But, a deadly incident forces their camaraderie.

Omega is featured heavily in this episode. And I was pleasantly surprised when the story was handled in a manner appealing to all ages. Even though this show has its own tone, I can’t help but compare it to The Clone Wars. Fortunately, this series does not appear to rely on some of the traditional aspects of animation present in its predecessor.

I also really enjoyed that this episode shows the perspective of Crosshair, as well as The Batch. And I really hope this continues. Seeing the Empire’s point of view on screen is important. We are not just getting an insight on how the people in their military view society. The show is filling in the gaps of how the army evolved away from Clone Troopers.

I could go on and on about the financial impact of these decisions. And nerd out on the implications they hold for the original Star Wars trilogy. But, hopefully, this will continue to be addressed throughout the series. Right now, I am anxiously awaiting the next episode.
