Queen Trios is having a party for her business partners and as she solidifies her relationship with the Empire, she has a twinge of regret for betraying Leia and the rebellion.
Unfortunately for Trios, Leia has no such regrets about what she’s about to do to Trios and her world.
The Falcon has landed on Shu-Torun and the next part of Leia’s plan is about to begin. She has split her forces in two and the first step in her plan requires them to get close to Trios and get a retinal scan. It’s a bold move that will require a bold plan utilizing their resident shape shifter, an unwilling Ore Duke, a speeder, a hacker and one hell of a pilot.
The first part of their plan seems to go off without much of a hitch and Leia decides to leave Trios a message as the team moves on to phase two.
I liked the pace of this issue. Kieron Gillen knows how to move a story forward and this is one that has the look and feel of a classic heist film. As interesting as the story is, it didn’t particularly grab me with its tone. There are moments of potential tension that could be great drama, but they fall flat as the story seems to rely mostly on Leia’s revenge as its primary motive.
Angel Unzueta’s art is magnificent and provides some impressive and well done visuals in a story that feels flat otherwise.
