The Rundown: The damaged Resolute must reach the Federation border either before they explode or before the Talarians reach them.
Dr. Brahms’ experimental warp core has not only failed, but it causing a warp core breach that could destroy the Resolute. While dealing with his own injuries and trying to help his ship and crew, Commander Sutherland races to find a way to stop an imminent explosion as well as rescue the rest of the crew.
With the Talarian leader closing in on the ship, the Resolute has one chance of escaping back to Federation space. A chance that will give the crew and the Captain time to escape, but it will come at a heavy price.
The Story: An exciting, action packed finale. I enjoyed the story a lot and the immediacy of its action. The pacing had some issues for me with Sutherland and the rest seeming to do things that just prolong moments, but the overall story was solid and entertaining. The characters continue to be interesting and I would be interested in seeing more of them in the future.
The Art: Hood delivers some great visual thrills throughout the issue and the art does a great job of bringing the world of Star Trek to life on the page.
