The Rundown: Alexander faces the next part of his rite while the Defiant crew faces off against the Cardassians and Section 31.
Alexander thinks back to moments with his father Worf before he is told about the next part of his rite. This part of the rite is about valor and Worf has decided that Alexander will infiltrate a world on the border between Federation and Klingon space that has been taken over by an independent corporation that is exploiting its workers.
Alexander finds his mission to liberate the people of this planet alone difficult bordering on impossible when Martok arrives to command him to abandon his mission. At the same time, the Defiant finds itself in a faceoff between a Cardassian ship and a Section 31 crew determined to stop them from destroying Miles’ mines.
The Story: Cantwell does a great job of continuing a personal and compelling father/son story for Worf and Alexander in this issue. There are some interesting political elements to this story that I really enjoyed. The Defiant elements of the story were weaker than the Worf/Alexander storyline and if it were removed, I wouldn’t have missed it because the main story is more compelling.
The Art: Unzueta delivers fantastic art throughout the issue. I love the visual style and the action.
