The Rundown: Worf prepares for battle against the Romulans while Miles deals with the ghosts of his past.

Miles continues to relive the horrors of Setlik III as he thinks about his legacy during the war and what that legacy makes him. Thoughts that only his closest friend Julian Bashir can understand as the two clash over Miles’ desire to take the Defiant to help Worf and the others and Julian warns him against it because of opposition from Section 31.

At the same time, Worf and the others find themselves facing the invading Romulan forces including a formidable warrior who has targeted the Klingon. In space, Sela finds herself facing off against her father for the life of Spock.

The Story: I’ve been on the fence about this particular arc and this issue doesn’t really help me make a decision about that. The story feels uneven and there are moments that I wanted to see explored more as a means of getting more involved with the characters, but those moments felt wasted in order to get to action beats that didn’t have any emotional weight to them. Besides the moment with Miles and Julian, I can’t really find anything in this arc that connects with me as a fan.

The Art: Unzueta delivers beautiful art throughout the issue and I really love the visual style of the series including the visual tension in the confrontation between Miles and Julian.
