The Rundown: The Defiant crew faces a familiar and deadly threat to the Federation.
Worf continues to doubt his commitment to the Federation and the mission he’s been sent on. At the same time, the Defiant’s medical officer deals with the ghosts of her own past as the ship approaches a derelict starbase on the edge of the Federation to transfer their prisoners.
As the Defiant crew is tensely greeted by the crew of the Federation starbase, a mysterious death of one of the officers begins a search for answers. A search that will bring them face to face with an old foe.
The Story: Cantwell dives deep into the history of the next generation for the return of an interesting villain that fans wanted to know more about. I like that the story keeps all the familiar elements of the creatures while keeping their presence and the reality of it a mystery. I like the buildup of the mystery within the story and the final reveal is filled with great drama.
The Art: Unzueta delivers great art throughout the issue. I love the character designs and the visuals beautifully enhance the drama and suspense of the story.
