The Rundown: Sisko travels to the Klingon home world as Kahless prepares to spread his message to the entire galaxy.
The Klingon empire is on the verge of war and a message from Worf sends Sisko and the Theseus to the Klingon home planet to find him as Kahless and his red path cult prepare the next stage of the emperor’s plan. A plan that will pit young against old and family against family in the pursuit of power at the edge of a blade.
As the Starfleet crews and their allies rally to find a way to stop Kahless and his forces, Sisko and Worf must deal with their own conflicts both internal and interpersonal. At the same time, Scotty is left to keep the ship intact and Spock decides to beam up to help his old friend.
The Story: The writers deliver a fantastic first issue of this arc. The story is great Trek lore and adventure throughout. I love the rise in tension throughout the issue as well as the conflict between the characters. One of the things that works so well with this story are not only those interpersonal conflicts, but also the stakes for both Worf and Sisko. I like seeing the two of them clash, but still have a deep friendship. I look forward to seeing how this story plays out and am excited for the next chapter.
The Art: Rosanas delivers some beautiful art throughout the issue. The visuals are wonderfully detailed and filled with great drama and action.
