The Rundown: Sisko and the assembled beings of immense power in the universe are confronted by Lore and a weapon that could destroy them all.
Lore has broken through the barrier protecting the Pleroma and stands before the powerful beings that could be considered gods because of that power. As Lore threatens to use the orb of destruction to end the beings, Sisko is challenged by Lore to confront his mother regarding what the prophets have failed to show him as their Emissary.
At the same time, the crew of the Theseus works to find a solution including beaming aboard Lore’s ship and confronting not only his crew, but finding the captured Data as well. As the crew fights to stop the conflict, Sisko and the other discover that they might be too late.
The Story: Kelly and Lanzing craft a compelling story in this issue. There is a wonderful rise in tension between all of the characters especially in the confrontation between Sisko, Lore and his mother. I liked the emotional exchanges between the characters a lot and there is a great build up to the suspense that brings me back to some of the things I love most about the world of Star Trek. The story ends with an amazing cliffhanger that has me excited to see what happens next.
The Art: Levens delivers amazing visuals that perfectly capture the emotional moments of the story as well as enhance the suspense, action and danger throughout the issue.
