Stampede Ventures has teamed with Prime Video for the upcoming comedy Space Cadet starring Emma Roberts.
The film is slated to go into production this month and the film has added new stars to join Roberts on her space adventure.
Stampede Ventures adds Gabrielle Union (The Inspection, Bad Boys II), Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy, Love in the Villa), Columbian Pop Star Sebastián Yatra, David Foley (The Kids in the Hall, A Bug’s Life), and Desi Lydic (The Daily Show, Awkward) to its feature comedy Space Cadet.
As previously announced, Liz. W. Garcia (The Lifeguard) will direct from her script, starring Emma Roberts (Holidate, Madame Web). The film follows a Florida party girl (Roberts), who turns out to be the only hope for the NASA space program after a fluke puts her in training with other candidates who may have better resumes, but don’t have her smarts, heart, and moxie.
Gabrielle Union is an actress, producer, best-selling author, and Time100 cover honoree. Union recently wrapped production on the third season of Apple TV+’s Truth be Told starring alongside Octavia Spencer. She will next be seen in the A24 drama The Inspection, opposite Jeremy Pope which premiered to rave reviews at the Toronto Film Festival. She is also featured in the upcoming Walt Disney Pictures animated film Strange World.
Tom Hopper has quickly established himself as a highly sought-after actor in both film and television. He can most recently be seen starring in Netflix’s romantic comedy Love in the Villa alongside Kat Graham and seen opposite Elliot Page in Netflix’s global hit series The Umbrella Academy, based on Gerard Way’s comic book series. Hopper recently starred in the Magnus Martens directed action film, SAS: Red Notice, alongside Sam Heughan, Ruby Rose, and Andy Serkis.
Colombian-American Sebastián Yatra is a chart-topping singer, songwriter, and bilingual, genre-bending multi-instrumentalist who is currently on tour following a year of smashing award-nominated music releases including “Tacones Rojos” from his multi-platinum album “Dharma” and “Dos Oruguitas” from Walt Disney’s Encanto. The Colombian talent has showcased his debut acting role on Netflix’s Once Upon A time…Happily Never After alongside his recurring role as a vocal coach on The Voice Kids Spain. He has recently been nominated for four Latin GRAMMYs this year, including “Album of the Year” and “Song of the Year.”
Dave Foley is an award winning actor, writer and producer most known as a founding member of the iconic comedy sketch group, The Kids In the Hall. Dave was a series regular on the ABC show Dr. Ken, long running NBC series Newsradio, and HBO’s critically-acclaimed miniseries From the Earth to the Moon. He also wrote and starred in the film The Wrong Guy. Some of the many films Foley has starred in include Sky High, A Bug’s Life, Toy Story 2, A Blast From the Past, and South Park: Bigger and Longer. Dave can currently be seen in the newly revamped Amazon TV series Kids in the Hall.
Desi Lydic is a professionally trained improvisational and comedic actress. She is best known for her work as a correspondent on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. In 2022 Desi earned her first EMMY nomination for her viral series Desi Lydic Foxsplains for “Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series.” Desi has developed two specials for Comedy Central: Remembering RBG – A Nation Ugly Cries with Desi Lydic and Desi’s first one-hour Comedy Central special, Desi Lydic: Abroad, receiving a Writers Guild Award Nomination. Desi also had a starring role in MTV’s hit comedy series Awkward and her other credits include FXX’s The League, Cameron Crowe’s We Bought a Zoo, and Jon Stewart’s Irresistible.
