The Rundown: Al has decided to increase his media presence by giving interviews about his mission. Unfortunately, drawing that attention to himself will put a target on the back of everyone he knows.
Spawn continues his plan as the evidence continues to mount that a global conspiracy has seeped into the lives of everyone on the planet. As markets continue to tumble and governments turn away reporters, Marc Rosen tells Al that he needs to get back to his life as a reporter, if only to keep up appearances.
When the FBI take Marc in to answer questions about the disappearance of his girlfriend, Marc quickly realizes that these “agents” are not what they claim to be. When Spawn shows up to rescue his colleague, he realizes that the war is escalating and there is nothing the forces of Heaven and Hell won’t do to get to Al Simmons.
The Story: Todd McFarlane is increasing the tension and raising the stakes for the characters in this issue and the overall story. McFarlane does a great job of keeping the story interesting and engaging with the dialogue and plotting. The bigger story continues to keep the attention of the reader by being focused on Al’s plan and how he fights the forces amassed against him. It makes me interested to see what McFarlane is building to by following it issue after issue.
The Art: Jason Shawn Alexander creates some great artistic moments throughout this issue and there are some really impressive scenes that showcase Spawn in action.
