The Rundown: Space Ghost returns to base and begins the next phase of his mission.
Space Ghost finds his new charges difficult as he takes them back to his secret base. A secret base that was once the scene of the dark tragedy that turned a man named Dex into the Space Ghost. A tragedy that shapes his dark view. A tragedy that also shapes his relationship with Jan and Jace.
After Space Ghost leaves the base to deal with a growing issue around the planet, Jace decides to take a little trip. A trip that will bring him into the path of a dangerous entity that will test Space Ghost and his new charges.
The Story: A thrilling follow up adventure from Pepose. The story has a wonderful mixture of tragedy, comedy and discovery as the characters deal with the reality of their circumstances as well as the reveals about Space Ghost’s tragic past. I like the emotional moments with the character and how he is forced to deal with the new additions to his life and how they will be integrated into his mission. There is some great tension throughout the story especially in the interpersonal conflicts and I look forward to seeing what happens next.
The Art: Lau delivers some beautifully detailed and visually dramatic art throughout the issue. I really enjoyed the visual style and the use of shadows. A wonderful looking issue from start to finish.
