Sony is still in the midst of building their cinematic universe around the Spider-Man characters with Venom set to release this fall. Now comes news that the next Marvel project from Sony is being pulled from the studio’s release calendar.
According to stories in both The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline, Silver and Black, based on the Marvel Comics characters Silver Sable and Black Cat will not meet its February 8, 2019 release date and has been removed from the calendar. It will be replaced on that date with the Tom Hanks World War II drama Greyhound.
Sources speaking with Deadline are saying that the Spider-Man spin-off film is heading back into development with a re-write of the script. Previous drafts were written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Captain Marvel) and Lindsey Beer (Chaos Walking). The film was meant to be a team up between Spider-Man allies Silver Sable, a mercenary and Black Cat, a cat burglar. Gina Prince-Bythewood (The Secret Life of Bees) is still attached to direct the film.
No word on casting for the two main leads or when it will be put back on the studio’s schedule.
