Sony Pictures has announced that they have chosen two directors for their upcoming big screen version of the Mattel toy line and animated series Masters of the Universe.
According to reports in Variety and Deadline, the studio has chosen the directing duo of Aaron and Adam Nee to direct the big budget fantasy feature that follows the adventures of He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe as he fights to defend the planet of Eternia from the evil forces of Skeletor.
Writer/Director David S. Goyer wrote the screenplay and was due to direct the film as well, but scheduling conflicts forced him to pass on the project, but remain on as executive producer.
The Nee brothers have received critical acclaim for their 2015 feature Band of Robbers which starred Mellisa Benoist and Kyle Gallner. They’ve also appeared on several episodes of Comedy Central’s Drunk History.
