The Rundown: Erica reveals her past as the creatures get bolder in their slaughter.
Two boys enter the woods outside the school and find a scared Tommy warning them to leave before the creatures stalking the town appear and go after them. When the sheriff hears about the commotion, he goes into the woods and discovers a truly horrifying scene.
At the same time Erica goes to visit James in the hospital, but the boy knows she isn’t there to make sure he’s ok. When Erica reveals what she wants, she also tells him about the event that led her to the Order of St George and why she isn’t the hero he thinks she is.
The Story: James Tynion IV does an excellent job of balancing revealing Erica’s haunted past without breaking the momentum and tension of the story. We get a quick view of the event that led to her becoming a member of the Order, but the story keeps the reader engaged by the real danger still growing in the town. The plot continues to be interesting and engaging as the danger increases. This is a masterful piece of storytelling from James Tynion IV and I continue to clamor for the next chapter especially after the cliffhanger ending.
The Art: Werther Dell’edera present some visually riveting moments throughout this issue. There are some intense, creepy visuals throughout and Dell’edera master both tension and terror in art.
