The Rundown: As the scope of the killings comes to light, the order prepares to send someone to replace Erica.
With James in the hospital being treated for his wounds, Tommy confronts Erica about the monster who killed his sister. Unwilling to deal with his questions, Erica violently lashes out to keep him from following her as she goes to visit the only survivor of the creature.
As Erica learns more about the monster and its offspring from the little girl they rescued, the order that sent her to the town prepares to send someone to clean up the mess she’s made. A mess that is bringing the officers investigating the scene into conflict with each other as they want to know what the chief knows and why he’s covering it up.
The Story: The tension in the story is palpable and the plot is tight and engaging. Everything seems to be leading to not only a bigger arc in the town, but also revelations about Erica and the mysterious order that employs her. James Tynion IV does an amazing job of keeping this story moving while also giving the reader reasons to connect with and enjoy the characters, especially Erica. I look forward to seeing all the twists and turns this story takes and even the flashback for James was a welcome way to round out his story and its ramifications.
The Art: Werther Dell’edera delivers some fantastic art in this issue. Taking away the action and focusing on the characters gives the reader a better insight into the world these characters inhabit. A great looking issue that promises more action and terror to come with each panel.
