The Rundown: Erica’s latest mission will require help when it takes an emotional toll on her.

Aaron finds Erica sitting on a bench in the park and decides to sit down next to her to discover why she has been missing. After thinking of a defining moment between her and her mentor when she was in training, Erica tells Aaron what happened on her latest mission.

Erica tells him about tracking a monster to the home of a little girl. After discovering that it has killed several kids already, Erica does what she usually does and uses the girl to lure the creature into a trap. Unfortunately, the girl’s desire to help leads to a tragic conclusion that could push Erica to do something desperate.

The Story: James Tynion IV delivers a wonderfully engaging and compelling story that gives more layers to Erica’s story. It has a wonderfully somber and dark tone because the story is deeply emotional and builds to some amazing moments of self-reflection for Erica while also showcasing the relationship between her and Aaron. I love this arc and how it gives the reader more insight into Erica and her life.

The Art: Dell’Edera delivers some beautifully detailed and emotionally art throughout the issue. I love the visual contrast between Erica’s retelling of the story and the story itself.
