The Rundown: Erica finds herself betrayed and placed in the middle of a dangerous and deadly game.
On the way back into town, Erica is grilled about her past and her octopus by Gabi who wants to know the truth about the things the creature was telling her. At the same time, Carter and his men prepare for their arrival and things get tense when Carter proceeds to arrest Erica based on the false information fed to him by the Order.
As Riqui and Gabi wait nearby, Erica finds herself in an interrogation room when Cutter arrives. As the two face off against each other, Cutter reveals what she’s done in the bullpen and that she’s not ready for their game to be over so quickly.
The Story: An entertaining story from James Tynion IV. The tone of the story is a lot more subdued than the rest of the arc and gives the reader the opportunity to learn more about the characters as well as increase the tension as Erica and the others speed towards and obvious trap. The plot also does a great job of subverting expectations when the confrontation between Erica and Cutter actually begins and I look forward to seeing what comes next.
The Art: Dell’edera delivers some great art in the issue. There isn’t a lot of action in the story, but Dell’edera manages to elicit emotions like fear and tension from the progression of the art throughout the story.
