The Rundown: Erica goes looking for a monster while a human one begins hunting her and everyone who helps her.
The woman brought in by the House of Slaughter to hunt Erica begins her journey and decides to speak to her driver to learn more about the House’s thoughts on the current situation and what happened to Aaron. At the same time, Gabi spends time with Erica’s creature who begins to influence her and convince her to go looking for the creature that killed her family.
While Erica tries to convince Gabi’s guardian to help her, Gabi is on the move. After calling to tell her that she is following the creature, Erica goes after her only to run into the creature and barely live through the encounter. To make matters worse, she gets a call from the woman hunting her and realizes that her only ally is going to die before telling her how to beat the creature killing families in town.
The Story: Tynion IV delivers an engaging and tension filled story in this issue. Erica’s struggle continues to be interesting and I continue to be impressed with the drama within the story both externally and internally. I like the stakes as well between killing a creature she is unfamiliar with and having to deal with someone actively hunting her. I can’t wait to see where the story goes next.
The Art: Dell’edera delivers some beautifully done art throughout the issue. The characters look fantastic and the creature in the story is wonderfully scary.
