The Rundown: An injured Erica must find the only other survivor of the monster attack before the Order arrives in the town.
Erica is hurt as she and James escape from the school and go looking for the only other survivor of the monster, the little girl Bian. After tracking her to John’s home, he lets them both in and Erica decides to put all the pieces of the story together as the Order of St. George enters the town and makes their presence known.
After listening to Bian’s story, James begins to realize the role he played in creating this nightmare for the town and how he is more connected to the events than just surviving them. As Erica goes to comfort the scared boy, the Order makes their presence known in bloody, violent fashion.
The Story: A consistently dark and beautiful thrill ride. James Tynion IV knows how to draw in the reader with a great story and tap into the emotional core of the characters. This was a great issue that brings together all the story threads, answers questions and teases some bigger conflicts to come. The cliffhanger of the issue was a visceral masterpiece that hooked me for whatever comes next.
The Art: Werther Dell’edera delivers some stunning imagery throughout this issue. The art taps into the tone of the story perfectly and builds the tension throughout while also giving the reader some great character moments.
