The Rundown: Daniel is a special boy who sees the world differently and that is the problem.
Daniel is a very special young man. He can see the world differently than most people. In fact, he sees everything that they have imagined. Every fantasy creature imaginable, Daniel sees in his daily life. A reality that makes his existence more difficult than he hoped and a lot lonelier.
When Daniel finds himself in a strange lobby waiting for his mother, he witnesses something completely unexpected when a stranger begins to interact with one of the imaginary creatures Daniel believed only he could see.
The Story: Kudranski crafts an intriguing and engaging story in this first issue and every moment immediately got my attention thematically as well as visually. It’s an interesting world and premise with an even more interesting character at its heart in Daniel. There’s an engaging tragedy to his loneliness as well as some great moments of development as he navigates a world no one else can see. I look forward to seeing what comes next in this series.
The Art: Kudranski has always impressed me as an artist and this issue is no different. Every page has something brilliant to engage with and the mixture of different genres and visual styles is amazing.
