The Rundown: Sinister enacts his greatest plan and the world becomes his new playground.
With a fraction of his plans revealed, Sinister is expelled from the Quiet Council and sent to the Pit. What no one knows until it is too late is that Sinister has tampered with the resurrection protocols and inserted himself into every mutant on the Council making them extensions of himself. A plan he decides to expand as his takeover of the planet begins.
At the same time, there are some who know something dark is happening and they will discover too late that even the people they thought they could trust have been compromised by Sinister. As a small resistance begins to grow out of his treachery, Sinister’s plans go on and his takeover of the planet is complete. When rumors of a galactic threat emerge, Sinister will discover that his plan will have unforeseen consequences.
The Story: Brash, audacious and deliciously dark, Gillen crafts an issue that is filled with great action, high stakes and dark humor. The plot is impressive and entertaining with all of its twists and turns. I really love the concept of this arc and just how broad and unique Gillen has taken it in just this first issue. I love the twist at the end of the issue and how consistently engaging Sinister is as a character. I look forward to seeing what’s next.
The Art: All of the artists deliver beautiful, exciting and visually engaging art on every page. The styles perfectly complement the story, the characters and each other.
