The Rundown: Billy gets some unexpected help in his fight against the gods.
Billy finds himself being betrayed by Freddie who wants the powers of the Captain for himself. As the two kids battle it out in front of the gods, Freddie reveals that he’s buying time in order for reinforcements to arrive.
When they do, Billy and his siblings find themselves fighting the gods. When Billy discovers that one of the gods is missing from the fight, he seeks him out to make a deal to bring the battle to an end. A deal that will come at a cost.
The Story: Waid continues to deliver an entertaining and thrilling story in this issue. Even with all the fun moments and absurdity in the story, Waid does a great job of evolving the character of Billy and giving him some interesting stakes to explore. I also really enjoyed the final moments of this issue and what it means for Billy.
The Art: Mora delivers beautifully detailed art throughout the issue. I love the visual style and how it ramps up the thrills and action of the issue.
