The Rundown: Sue and Victor investigate a possible demonic possession with ties to a secret order.

Hellboy has been called to California for a monster sighting and Sue and Victor find themselves dealing with a family whose aging matriarch has seemingly been possessed by a demon. A possession that manifests itself rather convincingly when they discover the grandmother is leading a local biker gang. As Sue attempts to discover what it possessing the woman, her vision is taken back in time to another member of the mysterious Golden Crane Society.
In the 13th century, Society member Wen Ru is conducting an investigation into the leader of a local Mongol horde. A leader who has possibly been possessed by a cursed object he is seeking. After teaming with a strange man who has information, they pair allow themselves to be captured and discover the object they seek. An object that could connect to the case Sue is currently working in the present.
The Story: Roberson continues to craft a compelling and engaging story in this issue. I love the world of Hellboy and this story does a fantastic job of featuring other characters from that world and giving them personal and interesting stories to explore. This issue has some impressive character moments and great pacing that allow for great drama and moments of comedy. I really enjoy the tone of this series and this issue especially.
The Art: Oeming delivers fantastic art throughout this issue. Every page is filled with beautiful details and capture the tone of the story perfectly.
