We Esteem Too Lightly Part 2

Quake, Ms. Marvel and Magik are going through the systematic process or returning the children kidnapped by Dark Beast and Mr. Sinister. As they return to base, Quake tries to enlist Moon Girl to find out what Dark Beast was doing and the most they can come up with is that all the kids are Inhumans who have not been exposed to Terrigen. At the same time in Italy, Karnak confronts the board of Ennilux with a request for funds. When a member of the board objects to the request, the Inhuman explains to him exactly where the money will be coming from as the Board member is escorted out. After taking another child home, they return to the base and find Moon Girl and Inferno captured by Dark Beast.

In the ensuing battle, Sinister emerges to find information on Moon Girl’s computer. With the battle over, Sinister explains to Inferno that he will return the heroes niece to him if they get in touch with Karnak. A prospect that none of them wants to do until they have a talk with Moon Girl who puts them in their place about talking to her like she’s a child. Lunella calls Karnak and he tells her the truth about his working with Sinister the same way he was working with her. Inferno gets on the call and threatens the Inhuman before hanging up. When Karnak tries to do something to bring some positive light to the situation the Secret Warriors find themselves in, it turns out that the Master Strategist might have been outmaneuvered.

The overall narrative in this issue worked for me, but that was about it. The only big thing that didn’t was the lack of depth to the interactions within the team. None of the characters except Moon Girl leapt out and a lot of the other members of this team seemed more like a liability than an asset. The art was the real standout in this issue with some great details and style in the action shots. Other than that, there wasn’t much to hold onto with this issue.
