The Rundown: Kaydn’s father and his friends make an uneasy alliance to find the missing boy.
In the aftermath of the attack on the temple, Kaydn is missing and everyone is scattered to parts unknown. The boy’s father works frantically to save the life of the priest who initiated the ceremony to bring forth the creature that nearly destroyed the entire planet.
Earlier, Kaydn uses his new found powers to fight to repel the creature. With destruction and chaos raining all around them, both father and son are separated again and Kadyn’s father will find himself in a most unexpected and dangerous place as he searches the stars.
The Story: The story in this issue is good, but doesn’t hold the emotional impact that the previous arc did. There seems to be too much going on and the story struggles to find its voice. The confrontation between the father and the priest was good, but not satisfying. The mission of Kaydn’s friends was done well to the point where I wished there was more it. Ultimately, the issue had some good moments, but had a lack of energy and felt dry.
The Art: Stephen Green brings more energy to the visuals than the plot has to offer. There are some great visual moments throughout especially in the flashback. A really good looking issue.
