Scott Snyder is taking over writing Justice League and his new team has some familiar faces on the roster.
DC Comics announced that the relaunch of the Justice League comic book series will have a new creative team with acclaimed writer Scott Snyder (Dark Nights: Metal) being joined by amazing artists Jim Cheung (Infinity) and Jorge Jiminez (Super Sons). The new series will debut in June after Snyder’s Justice League: No Justice comes out and there are some definite changes in this new team. It looks like Green Lanterns Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz are off the roster. Hopefully, they are with the rest of the corps in space getting some much-needed training.
There also seem to be some additions made to this new iteration of the Justice League that gives them a familiar feel. The new roster consists of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Cyborg, Aquaman and now Martian Manhunter, Hawkgirl and Green Lantern John Stewart. For anyone unfamiliar with this roster, with the exception of Cyborg and Aquaman, this was the lineup of the popular and critically acclaimed animated Justice League series from 2001.
In this new Justice League series, Martian Manhunter (who has been missing for the majority of DC Rebirth) is struggling to protect the team from an incoming threat that looks to destroy the world as they know it. In the meantime, a familiar face begins a dark path. No word on how the new team is formed, but I can’t wait for Justice League #1 to arrive so I can find out.
