With the recent release of the Avengers: Endgame trailer, we are now getting news about another film in the MCU.
According to an exclusive in The Hollywood Reporter, Scott Derrickson, who directed the first Doctor Strange film for Marvel Studios has reached a deal to director the sequel.
According to the THR article; sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the plan is for the script to be hashed out in 2019 with an eye toward a spring 2020 production start. If all goes well, the movie would be casting its spell on audiences in May 2021.
Benedict Cumberbatch is expected to return to the title role. Benedict Wong is also expected to return along with Rachel McAdams. No word yet on whether Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Mordo will return as Mordo in the film.
Marvel continues to be tight lipped about anything else regarding the project or when it takes place either pre or post Endgame.
The search for a screenwriter is currently underway.
