The Rundown: Wanda receives a visit from a familiar face bringing a new student in need of training.
Wanda receives a visit in the form of Agatha Harkness who needs a favor from the Scarlet Witch despite the tension of their last meeting. A favor that will require Wanda to train and protect a magical young woman named Amaranth who has no memory of where she came from and whose powers are the cause of a death close to her.
As Wanda takes on the task of getting to know the young woman, the pair are attacked by a powerful construct. As Wanda removes the three of them to a new battlefield, Wanda finds herself becoming overwhelmed by the creature and gets some unexpected help from her new charge. Help that could show the young woman being a bigger threat than both Agatha and Wanda could imagine.
The Story: Orlando delivers an intense and entertaining story in this issue. I continue to love what Orlando is doing with Wanda and her world. There is a wonderful contrast between the intense action beats and the character moments that I continue to enjoy. I enjoy seeing Wanda’s life become more complicated as more people around her continue to plot and plan against her. There is some great intensity throughout this issue and I look forward to seeing what happens next.
The Art: Tammetta delivers some beautifully detailed and visually striking art throughout the issue. I love the visual style of this series and how beautiful the characters look within it.
