The Rundown: Wanda finds herself in Hell’s Kitchen facing down an old foe with Daredevil.
With Chthon free from his prison within Wanda, the Scarlet Witch searches the realms for his presence. She decides to use the Final Door to take her where she needs to be and it brings her to Hell’s Kitchen where a woman is running from an enchanted hammer chasing her from the subway.
When Daredevil arrives, he and Wanda team up to stop the haunting presence growing beneath the city. A presence that Wanda has faced before and that is preparing an army for Chthon’s return.
The Story: Orlando crafts an entertaining and thrilling adventure in this issue. I loved the self-contained nature of the story and how it calls back to an earlier one for the character. I really enjoyed the banter between Wanda and Daredevil and it made me wonder why they never interacted more. It’s an interesting and engaging dynamic that I hope to see more of. I really enjoyed the progression of this story and how it beautifully leads to its surprise cliffhanger.
The Art: Tammetta delivers beautiful art throughout the issue. The visuals beautifully capture the tone of the story as well as the world within it. I loved the character designs and the action was visually stunning.

October 24, 2024 - 3:03 pmI’m getting too old. Maybe if this comic had a Ann Nocenti vibe I might have enjoyed it. It is rote and not very engaging. SW and DD are also a weird duo for a comic with this setting. I would have given it a solid 6.
