The Rundown: Malcolm is given the opportunity to join a super team, but is it what he actually wants?
Malcolm Dragon has been invited to become a part of North Force, an elite superhero team that defends Canada. Unfortunately, the first thing he has to overcome is their suspicions of his lack of a secret identity. Criticisms aside, he meets the rest of the team and learns about how they came together. He also voices concerns about their timing when threats like the Vicious Circle grew and terrorized the area.
As he tries to find a way to fit in with this group of heroes, an emergency alert prompts them to jump into battle. As he joins the team, there is one part of the dynamic that puts him at odds with them. A dynamic that will call into question whether this is the right choice for him.
The Story: Larsen does something unique and interesting in this issue. Taking Malcolm and putting him in a position that many comic book super heroes find themselves in and subverting that trope is a great story idea. I like how this story goes against many comic conventions and how the final decision for him joining the team comes down to family. An impressive story that is filled with a lot of fun.
The Art: Larsen does a great job showcasing the characters and the action in equal measure. Everything looks great and the details in the panels are fantastic.
