The Rundown: An enemy from Dragon’s past return and he has revenge on his mind.
Thor, god of thunder has returned and he wants revenge on Dragon for taking his eye and defeating him. With his son by his side, he retrieves an item of value to him before heading to Canada to catch up with Malcolm.
When word of Thor’s return reaches Malcolm, he is told by The Canadian that he and his family have been targeted. Malcolm is told that he will be taken to a secure location to wait things out while North Force takes on the rampaging god. Unwilling to let others fight in his stead, Malcolm joins the fight just in time and reveals that even the god of thunder has weaknesses.
The Story: Larsen crafts some relatively standard comic book plotting in this issue, but it is supremely fun to see it play out. The story does a good job of leveraging the personal drama in the story with Malcolm still dealing with the implications of having another version of his father in the world. There are some thrilling moments throughout the issue and the finale is both unexpected and brutal.
The Art: Larsen delivers some great art throughout the issue. There are some fun visual moments, but the story is all about the lead up to the Malcolm/Thor confrontation and that is handled beautifully.
