The Rundown: Dragon goes looking for his dead wife as Malcolm’s fight takes a dark turn.
Dragon continues to think about his past life and wants to see what happened to his wife on Dimension X. After convincing Tootsie to let him and Alex travel to the dimension, they immediately go on the hunt for Jennifer’s body. After a harrowing and dangerous trip to the grave, they discover it empty. A further investigation reveals a dark and disturbing reality that also reveals something unexpected.
Back on Earth, the battle against the Vicious Circle takes a dark turn as an injured and dying Malcolm lies on the ground, Dart finds herself betrayed and her followers outmatched and outgunned. As Malcolm clings to life, Maxine sits at his bedside and hopes for his recovery, but there might be a deeper complication that she’s not prepared for.
The Story: Larsen does a great job of giving both sides of this story emotional weight by making them focused on the characters and their struggles. Dragon’s quest leads to some dark discoveries, but Larsen gives readers a glimmer of unexpected hope. The Malcolm storyline is dark in its execution and lays the foundation for some interesting personal drama. A really engaging and interesting read.
The Art: Larsen delivers some great art in this issue. There are some disturbingly violent imagery throughout and that imagery ramps up the human drama that permeates the story.
