The Rundown: The Vicious Circle has invaded Toronto and Malcolm and his friends are in for the fight of their lives.
Malcolm and his friends have taken to the streets to fight back against the invasion of the Vicious Circle from Chicago. The battle is fierce and fraught with neither side getting the upper hand. At the same time, other villains start executing their plans to take over the criminal underworld in the city as Malcolm’s family waits for him to come home alive.
The Story: This is a straight up brawl issue. All of the interpersonal conflicts and drama are set aside to give Malcolm and his friends an excuse to cut loose in a knock down drag out fight. Larsen is setting up a lot of plot points for the next issue and this issue raises the stakes for the characters going forward. There are some fun character moments and interesting reveals throughout, but it does have the feeling of filler designed to hold the reader over until the 250th issue.
The Art: Larsen does some great work with the action in this issue. The fights are visceral and brutal. The composition of the panels is great and really keep with the momentum of the story.
