The Demonoid invasion of the city will challenge Dragon in more ways than one.
As Dragon and the Freak Force fight the Demonoid invasion, the Dragon kids find themselves in the middle of the carnage. Malcolm is doing his best to fight for every innocent life, but the one life he is desperate to save is his wife’s. When he sends the kids to find their mother, they find a scene of horror. The kids go on the attack, but they are no match for the creature.
Malcolm takes a bold step to bring Maxine back and when she returns, she has vengeance on her mind. She goes after the creature that killed her as the fight begins to turn for Freak Force. Even with Scourge going to stop the creatures from invading, Malcolm has to give everything he has to stop the Demonoids and even if they succeed, nothing will be the same in the aftermath.
Larsen has taken every story thread that has been building up and takes them to a dark reckoning in this issue. The dynamic between Malcolm and Maxine is put to the ultimate test and it is going to be interesting to see where their journey together goes now that things have changed between them. The rest of the heroes who helped are all dealing with this invasion as well and how they go forward will be something that I want to see explored. Larsen has ramped up the drama in this issue and I can’t wait to see what he does with it.
The art blew me away in this issue. There was a gritty, kinetic edge to the art in this issue that complemented the violence and carnage happening in the story.
