It was only a matter of time before a new Jurassic World film was announced and director Colin Trevorrow has been teasing it with a new short film that was released online recently called Jurassic World: Battle at Big Rock.
Now there is news that the next Jurassic World sequel will reunite the actors from the original 1993 Jurassic Park film. According to multiple sources, including Deadline, actors Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum will return for the next Jurassic World sequel to be directed by Colin Trevorrow. Dern confirmed her appearances in the film during a fan screening of the Battle at Big Rock short film.
Sam Neill played paleontologist Dr. Alan Grant in the first film alongside Laura Dern as paleobotanist Dr. Ellie Sattler. Both are brought in along with Mathematician Dr. Ian Malcolm, played by Jeff Goldblum, to tour and give their impressions of Jurassic Park and its real life dinosaur attractions. All three characters have returned to the franchise before with Goldblum starring in the sequel Jurassic Park: The Lost World as well as the recent Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Neill returned to play Alan Grant in Jurassic Park III which featured a cameo from Dern’s Ellie Sattler.
Steven Spielberg and Colin Trevorrow will executive produce the new film with Trevorrow directing a script by himself and Emily Carmichael based off a story by Trevorrow and Derek Connolly who co-wrote the original Jurassic World.
