American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy has taken to social media to announce the new theme for the next season of the hit series.
Many speculated that the next series would take place in the near future, but the confirmation from the creator itself seems to be taking a step back all the way to season 1.
According to the announcement, American Horror Story season 8 will be a crossover event between Season 1’s Murder House and Season 3’s Coven.
The Coven/Murder House AHS crossover season won’t be happening next year…because it’s happening THIS YEAR. AHS #8 WITCHES RULE THIS SEPTEMBER
— Ryan Murphy (@MrRPMurphy) June 14, 2018
Season one of the series (Murder House) kicked off the phenomenon with a family moving into a house filled with secrets, murder and evil that was the catalyst for many of the themes and characters that would permeate the series going forward. The first season featured Connie Britton, Dylan McDermott, Evan Peters, Jessica Lange, Taissa Farmiga and Denis O’Hare.
Season 3 (Coven) took place in New Orleans at an elite academy for Witches in training. It starred Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett and more.
Many of the stars of AHS tend to crossover as new characters or previous characters on new seasons and it will interesting to see who makes their return fo this new season. Hopefully, season 8 of American Horror Story sees the return of Jessica Lange. We’ll have to wait and see.
