The Rundown: The star of Red Rogue makes a decision about her career.
It’s the season finale of the superhero series red rogue added star Maisie is feeling burnt out. Things don’t get any better when not only does she take a blow to the face, but she also sees what the producers want her to wear for the next season. Maisie returns home to her husband and starts to think about what she wants to do with her career.
After trying to spend some time on her own thinking about what she wants to do, Maisie finds herself dealing with a fickle public who love her one minute and despise her the next. She finally decides to make a decision about her career and spend a night out with her husband. Unfortunately, she doesn’t see the threat coming to her home in the dead of night.
The Story: I really enjoyed the slow buildup of this story. There’s a nice subtle level of tension throughout all of the pages. I like that the issue delves into the character of Maisie and we’re given a chance to see her as a person. What really works are the subtlety and darkness at play around Maisie that is slowly and deliberately building in the background.
The Art: Mason delivers some great art in the issue. The imagery is beautifully detailed and does a great job of bringing those moments of tension out.
