Robert Zemeckis, the innovative writer and director of films like Back to the Future, Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Forrest Gump is producing a new fantasy series for NBC.
According to Variety, NBC has given a series order for the fantast drama “Manifest” produced by Zemeckis and Warner Brothers. A series order means that, based on the strength of the pilot episode, a new show has been given an order to produce the first season of a new series.
Once Upon A Time alum Josh Dallas stars in the series as one of a group of passengers on a flight who experience severe turbulence during the trip only to come out of it and reach their destination and discover that the world has moved ahead five years. As they return to friends and family who presumed they were dead, a deeper mystery begins to form.
Manifest is written by Jeff Rake and also stars Melissa Roxburgh (Travelers), Athena Karkanis (The Expanse), JR Ramirez (Jessica Jones), Luna Blaise (Fresh Off the Boat), Jack Messina and Parveen Kaur (The Strain).
NBC is expected to present its new schedule on Monday for its upfronts and that’s when Manifest will receive a time slot.
