The Rundown: Jean returns to finish the fight with Enigma as Charles begins the final phase of his plan.
From the remnants of the White-Hot Room, the Phoenix emerges. As Jean and the Phoenix solidify their existence together, they go after Enigma to finally end his threat as the rest of the mutants deal with the end of Orchis. At the same time, Charles Xavier confronts Moira and brings her to a moment that he designed to appeal to the last piece of her humanity. A piece that holds the key to stopping Sinister/Enigma once and for all.
As Jean goes to confront Enigma, he decides to fight by untangling moments of her life from across time. As she fights to repair them to chase her enemy, Charles appeals to Moira to do the one thing that she doesn’t want to. Something that will change everything about her world and the fate of all mutants.
The Story: Gillen brings this story to a brilliantly huge conclusion. There is amazing action and thrills throughout the story and a plot that perfectly encapsulates the power of Jean Grey and the Phoenix force. I like seeing the dark moments with Charles in the story as well and the interactions between him and Moira are fantastic. I can’t wait to see what the fallout of this story leads to with these characters.
The Art: Vecchio delivers some fantastic art throughout the issue. The story is filled with amazing moments that can only be experienced visually and those moments are stunning to witness, especially the final showdown with Enigma.
