The Rundown: As the mutants fight their final desperate battle for survival, a plan to change the future forms in an unlikely place.

It’s been ten years since the fall of Krakoa and the forces of Orchis begin the final phase of their plan. A plan to not only destroy the remaining mutants, but to also call a force that will help them to ascend beyond humanity itself. A plan that will be complicated by an attack by the last group of mutant heroes.

As the mutants fight to stop the ascension and call of a new and powerful deity, another plan is working in the background. One that will be led by a small band of mutants who are determined to stop the age of Krakoa from ever happening in order to save the species.

The Story: Gillen is crafting an epic and compelling story in this first issue. The story is filled with great moments for the characters and a dark tone that got me invested in the events unfolding within the issue. I really enjoyed the dark narrative and the moments of betrayal and surprise. The entire issue reminded me of the surprises and revelations that opened the Krakoa era and I look forward to seeing what happens next.

The Art: Silva delivers fantastic art throughout the issue. The action was visually engaging and captured my imagination. There are some beautifully crafted and epic moments throughout the issue and the imagery captures them perfectly.
