The firs story in this issue is the part two to “Let The Rick One In” and it finds Rick and the family storming the castle in order to destroy the head vampire and free Morty and Summer. Summer actually doesn’t seem to need any help at all as she’s pretty much in complete control of the vampires holding her to the point where they are fall over themselves to serve her. It is hilarious watching Summer hold court over them.
I really loved watching Rick be a bad-ass vampire slayer in this story. He’s drawn as being completely capable and manages to take out a horde of vampires deftly. In contrast to how he’s normally portrayed. I love the back and forth between Rick and Jerry as well. It’s written beautifully and flows really well with the visuals. I really like the last few panels as well and laughed out loud at Rick’s insults.
The second story “Mortycast” follows multiple Mortys as one tries to put on a podcast and it does what it’s supposed to do, but it doesn’t really hold a lot of interest in the narrative. It has a couple of funny moments, but not enough to sustain the story overall. As much as the first story finished something while still being funny, this second story never really felt necessary to include.
