Logan wakes up in a hospital, strapped to a bed. With no memory of how he got there, he quickly cuts through his restraints as Ana reappears to tell him what happened and reveal that he son has been returned to her.

Ana tells him about the dramatic fight he had with the X-Men and how he drove them back alone with his beserker rage. A fight that only ended when Kitty calls for a retreat.

Logan begins to ask questions and that’s when Persephone reveals herself and the power that she has been hiding all this time. A power that will change his perception of Ana, her son and everyone on the island. As more is revealed to Logan, he is offered the opportunity to see Persephone and that journey is going to be out of this world.

This issue does a lot of things right. One of the things that it absolutely nails is how big a threat Persephone actually is as a villain. Her development has been interesting and the threat that she poses has been teased really well, but this issue shows the scope of her power and it is terrifying in its implications. Soule builds great tension in this issue that continues even through the reveal of what Persephone can do. It’s a great moment that continues the dramatic tension right up to the end of the issue because it holds onto its mystery, guaranteeing the reader will want to see how it resolves.

Declan Shalvey’s art is great. Even without the big action scenes of the previous issue, there are really dramatic visual moments in this issue.
