The Rundown: Arlene tries to rescue June from a supernatural horror out for revenge.
A memory of the friend she lost and had to leave behind will spur Arlene into battle as she travels to save June and stop the creature trying to take its revenge on her. June finds herself being dragged by the snake creature Clausen has become. Arlene arrives just in time, but the fight isn’t over as long as Clausen has the belt and the ability to regenerate. Arlene is going to have to think fast if she and June are going to separate the man from the monster.
In the aftermath, the government invades the island and both Arlene and June find themselves speeding out of town. Unfortunately for everyone, one of the artifacts is still missing and will wind up in the hands of someone extremely dangerous.
The Story: Youers brings this arc to a satisfying conclusion that leaves the door wide open for more stories with these characters and this world. The story settles itself with big action, horror, gore and comedy that keep the reader entertained and engaged with the plot and its characters. I liked the unpredictable nature of the plot and how well Youers keep the suspense going. A fun, tense and entertaining story.
The Art: Fowler delivers on the gore and action big time in this issue. There are so many great visual moments that have a wonderful sense of fluidity and movement throughout.
