Netflix has aquired the film rights to the popular video game frnachise Tom Clancy’s The Division from Ubisoft and they’re bringing in some big name talent to bring the post apocalyptic story to life.
According to Deadline, Netflix has brought on director Rawson Marshall Thurber to direct the feature film adaptation of the game along with stars Jessica Chastain and Jake Gyllenhaal to headline. John Wick and Deadpool 2 director David Leitch was originally attached, but had to step down from directing. He will remain a producer on the upcoming film.
Tom Clancy’s The Division tells the story of a near future epidemic that wipes out New York. While the rest of society devolves into chaos, an elite group of operatives is activated to save who remains.
Rawson Marshall Thurber is known for directing films like Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, Central Intelligence and Skyscraper. His next film is the upcoming Netflix feature Red Notice starring Ryan Reynolds, Gal Gadot and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
