The Rundown: Nathan returns home and Marshall’s superhero life runs into complications.
After months in the hospital dealing with his injuries and rehab, Nathan is on his way home. His parents are supportive and helpful and Nathan discovers that his financial issues are getting some unexpected help. He also discovers that the power that used to be his isn’t done with him yet.
At the same time, his best friend Marshall is dealing with the consequences of being missing in action for weeks. His personal relationships are becoming strained and his endorsement deals as Radiant Black take a hit when a villain decides to attack everything he’s representing. An attack that will lead Marshall to make some dark choices.
The Story: Higgins delivers a fun story that has some interesting character development and evolution. I like how Nathan and Marshall’s stories parallel and how awkward the moment was between them. There is some great world building in this series and this issue showcases the human story in a way that keeps bringing me back for more.
The Art: Marcelo Costa delivers some exciting art in this issue. There is a great visual buildup of the tension in this story and when it finally gets released, the art reflects it brilliantly with energy and detail.
